The 2026 Catalyst Field Is Taking Shape
Founders from across industries are already bringing bold ideas to the competition. As applications continue to roll in for the 2026 Catalyst by Beemok pitch competition, one thing is becoming clear: innovation is thriving across the Lowcountry.
Healthcare and biotechnology have emerged as the largest category so far, with founders developing everything from medical devices for dialysis patients and targeted chemotherapy delivery systems to Alzheimer’s therapeutics and rehabilitation technology designed to improve patient care.
Beyond healthcare, entrepreneurs are tackling challenges across consumer products, hospitality, education and technology. Current applications include sustainable sneaker manufacturing, sports nutrition products, AI-powered hospitality solutions, game studios, content creation platforms, education technology aimed at reducing absenteeism and programs designed to foster entrepreneurship on college campuses. Retail, real estate, fashion, mobility and sports ventures further showcase the breadth of businesses being built across the region.
The diversity extends beyond industries. This year’s applicant pool includes founders from every generation, from a Gen Alpha entrepreneur to Baby Boomers launching or growing businesses. Millennials currently make up the largest share of applicants with Gen X closely behind.
Another trend has emerged from this year’s applications: most founders heard about Catalyst through a personal referral.

Professional applications remain open through August 1, while student founders have until August 31. The 2026 Catalyst by Beemok Live Pitch Competition will take place on November 12, with up to $2 million in investment capital available to selected founders.
